Enable User-Level Two-Factor Authentication

Configure two-factor authentication (2FA) to add an extra level of security to your impact.com account.

Tip

impact.com's security settings allow you to choose from 3 identity verification options when logging in to impact.com.

Set up a 2FA verification method

  1. Download and install your preferred authenticator app:

  2. In the lower-left corner of the impact.com platform, select user-circle-solid.svg [User Profile]Edit Profile.

  3. Scroll down to your Security settings and select Set up authenticator.

  4. You have 2 options:

    • Scan the provided QR code with your authenticator app.

    • Copy and paste the provided code string into your authenticator app.

  5. Your authenticator app will generate a 6-digit Time-based One-Time Password (TOTP). On the impact.com platform, select Next and enter the 6-digit code.

Note

Only the Authy, Google, and Microsoft Authenticator apps are currently supported.

Set default verification method

It's possible to have multiple verification options enabled for your account. When this is the case, you can choose which method to use as the default.

  1. In the lower-left corner of the impact.com platform, select user-circle-solid.svg [User Profile]Edit Profile.

  2. Scroll down to your Security settings and select the angle-down-solid.svg [Drop-down menu] under Default Verification Method.

  3. Select your preferred verification method.

    • The drop-down menu will only show the verification options that have been enabled.

    • The method you set as default will trigger for future sign-ins.

Account VS User settings

It is important to note that Accounts and Users can enable 2FA independently. When 2FA is configured on the Account level, the settings will apply to all users (members) listed on that account.

Let's look at the scenario of Acme Inc., which has two user accounts (members) — Wile & Roadrunner.

Account-level 2FA:

In this example, 2FA is enabled for the Acme Inc. account. The settings apply to both Wile & Roadrunner, and using 2FA becomes a requirement as opposed to an option.

User-level 2FA:

In this example, Acme Inc. has not set up 2FA authentication for its account. However, Wile decided to activate it on their own member account. Since it isn’t enforced at the account level, only Wile will have 2FA when signing in. Roadrunner will not.
