Sub ID Templates Explained

Make link customization faster and more flexible with Sub ID Templates in the impact.com Link Generation Chrome Extension.

This feature allows you to preconfigure how Sub IDs appear in your affiliate links so that you don’t need to manually enter tracking parameters every time. On the setup page, you can create up to three dropdowns or input fields that appear directly in the extension interface. Simply drag and drop tokens (e.g., campaign name, partner ID, or custom inputs) to build your ideal Sub ID structure.

By using Sub ID Templates, you can:

  • Save time when generating links

  • Ensure consistency in how Sub IDs are formatted

  • Easily track performance across campaigns, partners, or platforms

You can add your Sub ID templates within your trackonomics program in impact.com:

  1. Select [Add] [Add] Add New [Drop-down menu] [Drop-down Menu] and then select an option from the drop-down menu.

  2. Select between two options from the drop-down menu:

Give this template a name and then proceed to input a unique name and value for your Sub ID template. You can [Add] [Add] Add Another up to a maximum of 2 times (only 3 sub ID templates in total).

Drop down options can be used for predefined values that are often reused. For example:

    • Channel type (e.g., Social, Site, Newsletter)

    • Social platform (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, TikTok)

Note: The Template Name field only supports A-Z, 0-9, hyphens, underscores, and can’t be empty.

  3. You can preview your Sub ID pattern next. Drag and drop your templates by using the [Hamburg menu] [Hamburger] icon to reorder the structure.

  4. Select Save.
