Create and Send Newsletters to Partners

Use Newsletters in impact.com to send email and in-app newsletters to your partners.These can be used for correspondence, upcoming changes about your program, offer special promotions, and more.

  • To view the legacy newsletter experience, at the top of the Newsletters page, select ellipsis-h-solid__1_.svg [More] → Revert to old Newsletters.

Create a Newsletter

  1. From the left navigation menu, select Partners → Newsletters.

  2. In the upper-right corner, select Create Newsletter.

  3. In the Content & Settings section, add a Name, Sender, and Subject.

    • Name — The title of the newsletter. Name the newsletter something that sets it apart from other newsletters. i.e., ACME Anvils Halloween.

    • Sender — This is the “from name” and “from email address” that recipients will see when they receive the newsletter.

    • Subject — The subject of the Newsletter email.

  4. In the Email section, choose whether to use a Template or enter the Content of the newsletter in the provided WYSIWYG editor.

    • If you want to paste in your HTML content directly, use the chevron-left-solid.svg chevron-right-solid.svg Code View feature in the content editor.

      Note: Only the emojis in the newsletter toolbar are supported for sending out newsletters. Not all Slack or Apple emojis are currently supported.

    • Select the Special Token Options angle-down-solid.svg [Drop-down menu] below the Content field to see the available tokens that you can use to dynamically personalize your newsletter.

    Special tokens for newsletter

    You can use special tokens to populate your newsletter with relevant information (such as a partner’s name, or the current date) in your newsletter.

    Attention: Tokens are case sensitive. Do not place any formatting within special tokens (for example,{lastName} is valid but, {LastName} is not.

    {adcode_<adid>}

    Populates with the full ad listing of the specified <adid> value (e.g., {adcode_1122330}).

    1. To find Ad details, navigate to ContentAds.

    2. Hover your cursor over the ad for which you want to retrieve the Ad ID and select Update.

    3. Copy the Ad ID to your newsletter Content section.

    Ad code limitations

    The number of ad codes you can use per newsletter is limited by the number of audience members that are part of your segment.

    {mpid}

    Populates with the ID value of the partner’s account (e.g., 98765).

    {mpname}

    Company name.

    {firstName}

    Populates with the first name of the partner (e.g., John).

    {lastName}

    Populates with the last name of the partner (e.g., Doe).

    {currentDay}

    Populates with the current date (e.g., January 19, 2038).

    {currentTime}

    Populates with the full date in ISO format (e.g., 19-Jan-2038 03:14:08 UTC).

    {currentMonthYear}

    Populates with the current month and year (e.g., January, 2038).

    {unsubscribeUrl}

    URL to unsubscribe from the newsletter.

    Hello {firstName} {lastName}!

    Your account, Acme Partner ({mpid}) has been selected to receive exclusive use of our latest ad about our recently launched Acme product.

  5. Optionally, toggle-on-solid.svg [Toggle on] the In-app Announcement feature to have the same or custom Content be sent to your partners in-app.

  6. At the bottom of the page, select Preview to see what your content will look like to the recipients.

  7. Once you are happy with the Preview of your Newsletter, select Next.

  8. In the Specify Segment section, select angle-down-solid.svg [Drop-down menu] and choose recipients from your Segment List.

  9. Optionally, select Next to proceed, Save as draft or select Back to return to the preview screen.

  10. Review the Summary details of the newsletter on the Confirm screen, then choose how you want to proceed.

    • Select Preview to see how your newsletter will appear to recipients or see to whom it will be sent.

      • Optionally, you can Send test email to send a test copy of the newsletter to your impact.com account email address, Save as draft, or select Back to return to the preview screen.

    • Optionally toggle-on-solid.svg [Toggle on] Schedule to select a future date and timezone for when the newsletter can be sent.

  11. Once tested and you are happy with the result, select Send.
