Create & Send Newsletters to Partners

Use Newsletters in impact.com to send email and in-app newsletters to your partners. These can be used for correspondence, upcoming changes about your program, offer special promotions, and more.

Create a Newsletter

  1. From the left navigation menu, select Partners → Newsletters.

  2. In the upper-right corner, select Create Newsletter.

  3. In the Newsletter Content section, add a Name, Sender, and Subject.

    • Name — The title of the newsletter. Name the newsletter something that sets it apart from other newsletters. i.e., ACME Anvils Halloween.

    • Sender — This is the “from name” and “from email address” that recipients will see when they receive the newsletter.

    • Subject — The subject of the Newsletter email.

  4. In the Email section, choose whether to use a Template or enter the Content of the newsletter in the provided WYSIWYG editor.

    • Select Special Token Options [Drop-down menu] to see the available tokens that you can use to dynamically personalize your newsletter.

      • See the Special tokens for newsletters section below for more information.

    • If you want to paste in your HTML content directly, use the Code View feature in the WYSIWYG editor.

  5. Optionally, you can Save this email as a new template.

    Note

Only the emojis in the newsletter toolbar are supported for sending out newsletters. Not all Slack or Apple emojis are currently supported.

  6. Optionally, [Toggle on] the In-app Announcement feature to have the same or custom Content be sent to your partners in-app.

  7. At the bottom of the page, select Preview to see what your content will look like to the recipients.

  8. Once you are happy with the Preview of your Newsletter, select Next.

  9. Select an existing Segment or Create (a) New List to specify the recipients of the newsletter.

    • Learn more about Segments and how to create them here.

  10. Optionally, select Save as draft to save your progress or select Next.

  11. Review the details of the newsletter on the Confirm screen, then choose what to do next.

    • You can [Toggle on] Schedule to select a future date for when to send the newsletter.

  12. You can select Save as draft to save this newsletter so you can send it at a later stage.

    • You can Send test email to send a test copy of the newsletter to your impact.com account email address.

    • If you are confident the newsletter is ready to be sent, you can select the Send option.

    • If you want to make changes to the Newsletter select Edit or if you want to delete the Newsletter, select Delete.

Special tokens for newsletters

You can use special tokens to populate your newsletter with relevant information (such as a partner’s name, or the current date) in your newsletter. Tokens are case sensitive. Do not place any formatting within special tokens (for example, <b>{lastName}</b> is valid, but {<b>lastName</b>} is not).

Send a test newsletter

Once you have a newsletter created and saved, you can send a test email to yourself first to double-check that it will appear correctly to your partners.

  1. From the left navigation menu, select Partner → Newsletters.

  2. On the Newsletters screen, find the newsletter you want to test.

  3. In that newsletter's row, hover your cursor over the newsletter you want to test and, select [More] → Send Test Email.

    • Once tested and you are happy with the result, select Send Newsletter to send the newsletter to a segment (link to segment doc) of your partners.

  4. impact.com will confirm the test email has been sent. Check your email inbox to see it.
