Product Gifting FAQ

This FAQ guide covers some common questions about product gifting, a type of compensation method for creators. Learn how to set up product gifting compensation in your creator campaign.

Campaign setup & configuration

Can I configure my product catalog after I’ve already created a campaign?

Yes, you can. However, if you didn’t configure your product catalog (whether through your Shopify integration or your impact.com product catalog) at the time of setting up and publishing your campaign, your hired creators won’t see product gifting tasks. To rectify this, remove and re-add creators to your campaign once you’ve configured your product catalog.

Can I use multiple Shopify stores for gifting in different regions?

No, a single impact.com brand account can only be linked to one Shopify store at a time. To manage product gifting for multiple regions, you must create a separate brand account on impact.com for each region. You can then connect the corresponding regional Shopify store to each new brand account. 

Note: It’s important to create a new brand account for each region, not just a new program, because the Shopify connection is made at the account level.

Can I invite affiliate partners to my creator campaign to offer product gifting tasks?
Can I combine product gifting with other forms of compensation?

Yes, you can configure your creator campaign with product gifting set up alongside flat fee or CPA compensation. Alternatively, you can also configure product gifting as the sole form of creator compensation.

Do I need to implement an eCommerce integration for product gifting?

No, but brands using the product gifting compensation type without an eCommerce integration will have to manually update their order fulfillment statuses.

Managing live campaigns & creators

Can I add product gifting as a compensation method after my campaign has started?

No, once you’ve published your campaign you won’t be able to add product gifting as a compensation method. You will need to create a new campaign to add product gifting as a compensation method.

Why can’t my creators see product gifting tasks on the impact.com mobile app?

Product gifting tasks are not currently available on the mobile app. Instead, creators should make use of the desktop app.

Can I remove the gifting task for creators who already have their product?

Yes, you can. Consider the following scenario: You launched a creator campaign with product gifting but only configured your product catalog after publishing. To stay on schedule, you manually gifted some creators outside the platform. To manage these specific creators, you could do one of the following:

  • Send them customized campaign invites that exclude the product gifting task entirely.

  • Create a separate campaign without a product gifting task defined to manage them.

  • Remove the product gifting task for those specific creators.

    Note: Ensure clear communication with your creators so they understand why their gifting task has been updated or removed to avoid confusing the creator.

Order fulfillment & reporting

Will my gifting orders be fulfilled automatically if I've uploaded an impact.com product catalog?

No, you’ll have to manually fulfill orders using our bulk fulfill method. See Review gifting orders.

How do I handle creator shipping issues or returns?

Creator complaints such as shipment issues and product returns should be handled on a case-by-case basis. As the logistics for Shopify products are managed on the Shopify platform and impact.com has no in-platform functionality to manage disputes, impact.com recommends that you use the Messaging feature to work directly with the creator to resolve issues.

Can I see product costs in reporting?

Yes. Each product gifting order is tracked for your program as a Gift event type and will display in reporting as non-revenue generating Actions.

Can I track inventory of products available for gifting?

No, not at this time.

Does impact.com track gift returns?

No, but if you use the Shopify integration, Shopify records returns of gifted products.

How can I track what products I’ve gifted to each partner?

If you use the Shopify integration, you can track your product gifting history using the Advanced Action Listing Report. Use the Action Type filter to filter for Gift.
