# Configure Product Gifting for Your Creator Campaign
Product gifting is a creator compensation method that rewards creators with free products from your catalog, either on its own or alongside a flat fee or performance-based payout. impact.com allows you to integrate your creator program with your Shopify store or upload your own product catalog, and specify products that you want creators to choose from.
This article covers only the gifting-specific settings in the creator campaign builder. For every other section of the builder, see [Configure a Creator Campaign](/brand/what-would-you-like-to-learn-about/creator-program/creator-campaigns-for-brands/configure-a-creator-campaign.md).
## Prerequisites
* Your account must have product gifting enabled. Reach out to your Customer Success Manager (CSM) or [support](https://app.impact.com/support/portal.ihtml) to enable it.
* You must have a product catalog ready:
* **Without a Shopify integration** — A [product catalog uploaded to impact.com](/brand/what-would-you-like-to-learn-about/platform-features/product-catalogs/add-product-catalogs-as-a-brand.md).
* **With a Shopify integration** — A Shopify product catalog, with your impact.com account [connected to your Shopify account](https://integrations.impact.com/integration-guides/for-brands/plugin-integrations/e-commerce/integrate-with-shopify/integrate-with-shopify-for-product-gifting). Products and their variants must be priced, have images, and have at least 1 variant in stock. See Shopify's help article on managing [products](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/products).

**Warning:** If you publish the campaign before your product catalog is configured, hired creators won't see a product gifting task at all. To fix this, configure your catalog, then remove and re-add the affected creators to the campaign.

## Configure product gifting

### Select product gifting as a compensation method
1. From the left navigation bar, select  **\[Engage] →** **Campaign Manager** **→** [**Creator**](https://app.impact.com/secure/advertiser/engage/campaigns/influencer-campaign-manager-flow.ihtml).
2. In the upper-right corner of the screen, select **Create Campaign**.
3. Complete the [*Campaign Overview*](/brand/what-would-you-like-to-learn-about/creator-program/creator-campaigns-for-brands/configure-a-creator-campaign.md#campaign-overview), [*Eligibility*](/brand/what-would-you-like-to-learn-about/creator-program/creator-campaigns-for-brands/configure-a-creator-campaign.md#eligibility), and [*Content Rights*](/brand/what-would-you-like-to-learn-about/creator-program/creator-campaigns-for-brands/configure-a-creator-campaign.md#content-rights) sections as you would for any campaign.
* If product gifting is the only compensation for this campaign, set your budget to zero.
4. In the *Compensation* section, select  **\[Unchecked box] Product gifting**.
5. Enter the number of **free products** offered in this campaign, and any high-level **Product details** such as redemption restrictions or promo codes.

### Add the product gifting task to your brief
1. Proceed to the *Brief* section of the campaign builder.
2. Optionally, specify a task timeline for content submissions. Refer to [*Task timeline*](/brand/what-would-you-like-to-learn-about/creator-program/creator-campaigns-for-brands/configure-a-creator-campaign.md#task-timeline) to learn more.
3. Under *Tasks*, select  **\[Radio button] Set tasks**.

**Warning:** Always select **Set tasks**. Product gifting isn't supported when you choose **Creator defines.** Creators can add a gifting task during negotiation, but they'll have no products to choose from, because products are only defined here in the campaign builder. The task can't be corrected after the creator is hired.

4. Select  **Add Task.**
5. From the *Add Task* slideout, select **Product Gifting** from the *Type* drop-down menu.
* If you select  **\[Unchecked box] Allow creators to negotiate**, it won't apply to product gifting tasks. These are always non-negotiable.

### Choose products and set gift restrictions
1. Select **Select Products** to choose the products you want to include. In the modal:
1. Select a product catalog using the  **\[Drop-down menu]** in the upper-left corner.
2. Optionally, search for products by title or SKU using the search box in the upper-right corner.
3. Select individual products using the  **\[Unchecked boxes]**.
4. Once you've chosen your products, select **Add {number of} products**.
2. Below the *Select Products* button, select how creators are restricted when choosing gifts. See the *Gift restrictions reference* below.
Gift restrictions reference
| Restriction | Description |
| ------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| No limitation | Applies no restrictions to the creator's selection. |
| Total price limit | Restricts available gifts to a cumulative price threshold. A limit of $200.00 USD lets a creator select 1 product at $200.00 USD or 4 products at $50.00 USD. |
| Number of products | Restricts the number of products a creator may select, regardless of price. |
3. Use the **Details** box to share any task details with your creators.
4. Optionally,  **\[Toggle on] Custom timeline** to give your product gifting task its own content submission dates.
* If you've defined a task timeline in your campaign brief, any custom timelines you create must fall within that duration. Additionally, the formatting of both timelines must match (absolute-to-absolute or relative-to-relative).
* If you choose not to set a custom timeline, this task will use your default timeline for content submission.
5. Select **Add Task**.
* Alternatively, to add another task, select **Save & Add Another**.

### Publish the campaign and hire creators
1. Complete the [*Tracking*](/brand/what-would-you-like-to-learn-about/creator-program/creator-campaigns-for-brands/configure-a-creator-campaign.md#tracking) and [*Review*](/brand/what-would-you-like-to-learn-about/creator-program/creator-campaigns-for-brands/configure-a-creator-campaign.md#review) steps of the campaign builder.
2. Select **Publish campaign**.
3. [Invite and hire creators](/brand/what-would-you-like-to-learn-about/creator-program/recruit-creators/invite-creators-to-your-campaign.md) to the campaign. Once hired, they can [select the products they want](https://help.impact.com/partner/what-would-you-like-to-learn-about/campaigns/creator-campaigns/campaign-management/redeem-your-gifts-as-a-creator) to complete their campaign tasks.

## What happens next
Once creators start claiming their gifts, manage fulfillment from the *Gifts* tab in the campaign manager. Refer to [Manage Creator Campaign Gifting Orders](/brand/what-would-you-like-to-learn-about/creator-program/recruit-creators/manage-creator-campaign-applicants.md) to learn more. Each gifting order is tracked as a `Gift` event type and appears in reporting as a non-revenue-generating action.
## Limitations
Your product gifting setup is locked once your campaign is published. Note that you can't:
* Add product gifting as a compensation method to a campaign that's already published. You must create a campaign with product gifting available from the beginning.
* Change or remove the product gifting setup after the campaign starts.
* You can still [remove a gifting task from an individual hired creator](/brand/what-would-you-like-to-learn-about/creator-program/creator-campaigns-for-brands/add-or-remove-creator-campaign-tasks-as-a-brand.md).
* Add a product gifting task to a creator after you've hired them.
