Create Custom User Roles

Every user in your impact.com account has a user role and permissions assigned to it. Users can be assigned a predefined role, or you can create a custom role for them. Learn how to manage existing custom roles.

Note: The user roles in this article apply only to the Performance and Creator programs. For Advocate program users, refer to the member roles and permissions here for detailed information about roles specific to the Advocate program.

Custom Roles vs Predefined Roles

  • A custom role is created by you, while predefined roles are created by impact.com for convenience. The steps below explain how to create a custom role, which you can then apply to any user account.

Role
Description

Account Administrator

Admins have full access to all aspects of impact.com and can manage account settings, including adding or removing account users.

Analyst

Analysts have view-only access to most reports and can review contracts. This role is best suited for users who primarily need to review and export reports from impact.com.

Finance

The Finance role allows users to view financial reports, manage wallets and funding, and review contracts and template terms. This role is ideal for users who need to add funds and export financial documents from impact.com.

Implementation Specialist

This role is intended for developers and technical users managing the impact.com integration (tracking, code, etc.) with their website and tech stack.

Performance Marketing Manager / Affiliate Manager

This role is for performance marketing (and affiliate) managers using impact.com on a daily basis. They need full access to reports, contracts, and partner features.

Custom

This role allows for custom user access, granting specific permissions on a granular basis.

Create a Custom Role

Follow the steps below to create a custom role:

  1. From the top navigation bar, select [User profile] → Settings.

  2. Under General, select Account Users.

  3. On the Account User screen, select the Manage [Drop-down menu]Manage Custom Roles.

  4. Select Create Custom Role.

  5. Enter the Role Name.

  6. Under the Product section, select the [Radio Button] to choose which area of the product a role will be assigned to.

  7. In the Permissions section, select the [Unchecked boxes] to enable specific permissions for a user role based on the Product selection.

    • View the Permissions reference table below for more information about what those permissions entitle.

    • Select the Permissions [Unchecked box] to apply all permissions to the role.

    • Where applicable, select the Level of access you want the user to have for that permission, to Manage or View.
