Manage Tasks

In your impact.com Performance account, you can use the Tasks system to create assignable tasks for both your partners and your colleagues in your impact.com account. Learn how to view the tasks modal, create new tasks, update existing tasks, and leave comments on tasks.

Create a task

  1. From the top navigation bar, select [Tasks].

  2. In the lower-right corner of the tasks modal, select Add task.

  3. Fill in the necessary fields using the Field reference below and select Add to save your task.

Assign To

Tasks can be assigned to partners or your team members on your brand account. When you select a partner account, you can use the second drop-down to select a specific member for that partner account or leave it blank to assign the task to anyone with access to the partner account.

Task Type

Use the drop-down menu to select the task type. If [Checked box] Task requires approval is selected, you'll need to manually approve it when the assignee marks it as complete. If this option isn't selected, a task will automatically be approved once the assignee marks the task as complete.

Summary

Include a short summary of what this task is — think of it as the task’s title.

Description

Optionally, add a description for this task that includes all relevant details. Select [Attach] to attach files with no size limits. Supported formats:

• JPG

• PNG

• DOC

• MP4

• MOV

• PPT

• SAZ

• XLSX

• ZIP

Due

Optionally, use the calendar modal to choose a due date and time of day. Select [Checked box] Mark as urgent to signify to the assignee that this task is considered urgent.

View tasks

  1. From the top navigation bar, select [Tasks].

  2. In the upper-right corner of the tasks modal, select View All.

    • Alternatively, to see an overview of your tasks only, switch between the Reported by me and Assigned to me tabs.

  3. On the Tasks screen, you can:

    • Filter for specific tasks using the top filter bar.

    • Select an individual task name to view a summary of the task.

    • Select Add Task to create a new task.

Action a task item

  1. From the top navigation bar, select [Tasks].

  2. In the tasks modal, select Assigned to me.

  3. Select one of your assigned tasks, and in the upper-right corner, select [Drop-down arrow] → Start.

    • Alternatively, on the Tasks screen, select [Drop-down arrow] → Start under the Actions column.

Description

Start

Marks the task as In Progress.

Invalid

Marks the task as Invalid. Task reporters and the assignee can comment on the task to discuss why it's invalid.

Duplicate

Marks the task as duplicate. Assigners and assignees can comment on the task to discuss why it’s considered a duplicate.

Blocked

Marks the task as blocked. Assigners and assignees can comment on the task to discuss why they’re unable to complete the task.

Rejected

Marks the task as rejected. Assigners and assignees can comment on the task to discuss why it was rejected.

Completed

Marks the task as completed. The assignee must have already selected Start on the task in order to mark it completed. Tasks that don't require approval will automatically have an Approved status when marked as completed.

Delete

Deletes the task. Only assigners can delete tasks that they’ve created.

Archive

Archives the task. Only available on tasks that have been completed.

Reopen

Reopens a task that was moved from In Progress to any other status mentioned above.

Update tasks

To add progress updates:

  1. From the top navigation bar, select [Tasks]View All.

  2. To update the task progress, select a task to open it and add a Comment with an optional [Attachment].

    • An attached file must always be accompanied by a comment (e.g., "View the attached").

  3. To reassign a task to a different user, select [Edit] next to Assignee.

    • Choose the account from which the new assignee will be selected, then select the new assignee.

    • Select [Check] to finish reassigning the task.

Note: Anyone can add comments to a task, however, only users with the the Manage Tasks account permission can reassign tasks.

Set task notifications

You can configure your impact.com notification settings so that you receive an alert whenever you're assigned a task or whenever an update occurs on a task you've created or been assigned to. Learn how to manage your account notification settings.
