# Getting Started for Migrated Partners

This help article will get you ramped up and fully operational with key information on the specific features and terminology you need to know.

#### Create your account

The first thing you’d need to do after receiving an invite link to the brand’s program via email is to set up your account to ensure we have all your important initial information. [Sign Up as a Partner on impact.com](https://help.impact.com/partner/what-would-you-like-to-learn-about/getting-started/sign-up-as-a-partner-on-impactcom) will take you through the steps of setting up your account.

#### Understand the commission structure and earning potential

**What we commission on**

* Commission amount ($) or commission rate (%) for an action
* Commission amount ($) or commission rate (%) for the product

**Earning potential**

* Average Order Value (AOV)
* Average commission rate
* Earnings per click (EPC)

**Key commission terminology**

* **Click:** Your tracking link was clicked
* **Action:** A sale/event attributed to your tracking link
* **Locking date:** Date the action can no longer be modified or reversed by the brand
* **Payout date:** Date earnings are scheduled to be transferred into your partner account

Your contract with a brand outlines the payout structure, including details like the default payout amount, the currency, and payout scheduling. Refer to [Contracts Explained for Partners](https://help.impact.com/partner/what-would-you-like-to-learn-about/platform-features/working-with-brands/contracts/contracts-explained-for-partners) to get a detailed breakdown of what’s included in your contract and details to which you should pay attention.

#### How you get paid

impact.com follows a payment action lifecycle. When an action is generated, it begins with a *Pending* status, indicating it has been tracked but not yet approved or reached its locking date. Once the action reaches its locking date, it transitions to *Approved*, and the commission will be paid on the scheduled payout date outlined in the template terms. If an action is labeled as *Reversed*, it means the action has been canceled and will not generate a commission, typically due to customer refunds or order cancellations.

#### Create tracking links & promote products

1. **Look for deals:** You can start searching for [deals and promotions](https://help.impact.com/partner/what-would-you-like-to-learn-about/platform-features/marketing-content/deals/view-and-manage-deals-as-a-partner) that brands are currently running.
2. **Obtain tracking links:** Once you have browsed the content or products a brand has made available, the next step is to [obtain tracking links](https://help.impact.com/partner/what-would-you-like-to-learn-about/platform-features/tracking/tracking-links/create-and-manage-links/create-tracking-links) for the content you want to promote. You’ll use these tracking links to receive credit for the conversions you drive, resulting in a commission payout.
3. **Set up a product catalog feed:** If you want to be informed about new or newly updated content uploaded by brands you partner with, consider setting notifications and making use of the [product catalog feeds](https://help.impact.com/partner/what-would-you-like-to-learn-about/platform-features/marketing-content/product-marketplace-and-catalogs/set-product-catalog-preferences-and-notifications-as-a-partner). This could help you stay current with a brand's latest promotions.

#### View your performance

Once your account and tracking links are set up, you can start maximizing traffic by reviewing your data.
