# Amazon Seller Tracking Explained

The way impact.com tracks attribution for the Amazon Seller program differs from the tracking methods typically used in other programs. With Seller, we rely on the Amazon Attribution API to handle attribution tracking, and this comes with certain considerations. Understanding these tracking differences will help you set informed expectations with partners and make sense of your Seller reports.

#### Cross-country tracking

Amazon’s attribution tracking doesn’t support cross-country tracking, meaning that Amazon will only track traffic to your Amazon site and attribute it to the relevant partner when your site and the partner’s audience are in the same country/region.

#### Tracking link parameters

With Seller, your partners can pass you extra data with conversions by adding the `sharedId` [parameter](https://help.impact.com/brand/what-would-you-like-to-learn-about/platform-features/tracking/tracking-explained/tracking-link-parameters-explained) to their tracking links. However, partners should avoid using `subIds` as this can prevent them from getting credit for conversions.

Additionally, if your partners participate in [Amazon Associates](https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/) , they cannot append impact.com and Amazon Associate tracking links to each other to earn multiple commissions on the same conversion.

#### Automatic product returns

For product returns, you don’t need to submit a data file to impact.com to process action [reversals or modifications](https://help.impact.com/brand/what-would-you-like-to-learn-about/platform-features/submit-and-modify-conversion-data/batch-modify-conversion-data/submit-batch-modifications-and-reversals). Amazon handles returns as usual, and your conversion data will update on impact.com within a 28-day rolling window.

#### Order ID differences

impact.com generates internal order IDs for your Seller program based on the daily data feed we receive from Amazon. These IDs serve as internal identifiers only, and are structured `EventDate-PartnerID-ProgramID-SKU`.

These order IDs won’t match your Amazon order numbers if you try to cross-reference them, since Amazon gives us aggregated data to protect consumer privacy and comply with GDPR.

#### Click path visibility restrictions

impact.com cannot give you insight into the user’s click path or journey leading up to a purchase. With the Seller program, you won’t have visibility into these details in the same way you would, for instance, in your Performance program with the [Top Paths](https://help.impact.com/brand/what-would-you-like-to-learn-about/platform-features/cross-channel-performance-insights/optimize-reports/top-paths-explained) report.
