# Create a Social Violation

1. From the left navigation bar, select ![](/files/R8AxmtABBX7EqHjIMAwy) **\[Protect]** → **Monitoring** → **Social**.
2. On the *Social* screen, hover over a post for which you want to create a violation, then select ![](/files/mQTDSmR70Q3Eybmgev6e) **\[More]** → **Create Violation**.
3. Review the *Social* and *Violation* information:

| Impacted Posts | A breakdown of the impacted posts' issues.       |

| Field       | Description                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             |
| ----------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Issues      | The issue types found on the specific social handle.                                                                                                                                                                                                                    |
| Description | A description of the issue types. Use this field to describe the violation, should the default description not suffice.                                                                                                                                                 |
| State       | <p>Use the dropdown to indicate the state of the violation. States include:</p><p>• New</p><p>• In Progress</p><p>• Blocked</p><p>• Completed</p><p>• Approved</p><p>• Rejected</p><p>• Invalid</p><p>• Duplicate</p>                                                   |
| Severity    | Use the dropdown to indicate the severity level of the violation — typically, more severe violations indicate the violation should be resolved quickly.                                                                                                                 |
| Due Date    | Use the calendar and time drop-down menus to indicate the due date of the violation resolution from the creator.                                                                                                                                                        |
| Attachments | If relevant, select **Choose File** (or drag & drop) files that pertain to this violation (e.g., a screenshot of the violation itself).                                                                                                                                 |
| Comments    | Use the text field to add comments about this violation. When set to **Public**, all parties (i.e., the creator, you, and other account members) will be able to see it. When set to **Private**, only you and your other account members (not the creator) can see it. |

4. Select **Save**.
