# impact.com Starter Edition Billing Explained

Your first partner payout is charged once your first partner-driven actions are tracked, and your first impact.com fee is charged on the first day of your second month with impact.com, following a full calendar month since sign-up. Your impact.com fees are the greater of 2.5% of the total monthly revenue of locked partner costs or $30 USD (or the equivalent in your account’s currency).
When you sign up with Starter Edition, you'll be required to provide credit card information. This allows impact.com to replenish your funding account and ensure any costs will be covered, preventing overdue payments. The system will automatically charge your credit card when your funding account balance falls the minimum amount required to cover your impact.com fees or partner costs.
* **impact.com won't charge your credit card if your funding account balance is sufficient, or if the total you owe partners + impact.com is less than the minimum amount to charge.**

#### Behavior to expect
Whenever partner or impact.com fees are due, the system will check your funding account for those fees. If your funding account is below the amount required to cover your impact.com fees or partner costs, the system will charge your credit card to replenish your funding account with the necessary amount.
Example scenario
\**This example uses USD as the currency.*
**May 12 — you sign up:**
On May 12 you sign up for impact.com Starter Edition and complete your billing information. No partner costs or impact.com fees are due yet.
* Funding account balance: $0
* Total due: $0
* Funding account deductions: $0
* Credit card auto-charge: $0
**May 30 — first conversions tracked:**
By May 30, you managed to secure contracts with partners who drove traffic that resulted in conversions. As mutually decided in your contracts with the partners, you owe $75 in commissions. The $75 will be included in the *total due* on May 30 because the actions have already been tracked, but will only *be deducted* from your funding account once the actions [lock](https://help.impact.com/brand/what-would-you-like-to-learn-about/platform-features/actions-and-payouts/understand-the-action-life-cycle-and-finance).
* Funding account balance: $0
* Total due: $75 partner costs
* Funding account deductions: $0
* Credit card auto-charge: $75
**June 1 — first full calendar month begins:**
On June 1, your first full calendar month with impact.com begins. No impact.com fees are due yet, because your first fee is charged on the first day of your 2nd month following a full calendar month since sign-up.
* Funding account balance: $75
* Total due: $0
* Funding account deductions: $0 (Conversions didn't lock yet, so no deduction.)
* Credit card auto-charge: $0 (Funding account balance now covers partner costs.)
**June 20 — first conversions locked:**
As mutually decided in your contracts with partners, the actions that were tracked on May 30 are locked on June 20. The partner costs will now be deducted from your funding account.
* Funding account balance: $75
* Total due: $0 (No new conversions were tracked.)
* Funding account deductions: $75 partner costs
* Credit card auto-charge: $0 (All costs are covered, so no auto-charge occurs.)
**July 1 — first impact.com fee charged:**
July 1 is the first day of your second month following a full calendar month since sign-up. Your first impact.com monthly usage fee is charged today, but will clear on July 2. Going forward, your monthly usage fee will be charged on the 1st of each month for usage of the previous month.
* Funding account balance: $0
* Total due: $30 impact.com fee
* Funding account deductions: $0
* Credit card auto-charge: $30 (Funding account balance doesn't cover impact.com fees)
**July 2 — first impact.com fee cleared:**
