# Replace a Partner's Contract
Partners who have already signed a contract can be easily switched over to a new set of terms. Once accepted, their new terms will go into effect on a date you specify (as long as it is past the notification period).
#### Replace a partner's contract
There are 4 ways in which you can change or create a template term for a partner's contract. Select the option that best suits your needs.
Switch a partner's contract to a different template term
1. From the left navigation menu, select  **\[Engage]** → **Partners → Partners**.
* Alternatively, for a creator program, select  **\[Engage]** → **Partners → Creators**.
2. Hover over the partner whose contract you want to switch out, then select **\[More] → Contract → Switch to existing contract**.
* Alternatively, select  **\[Checkbox]** next to the partner whose contract you want to switch out, then select **Contract → Switch to existing contract**.
3. On the *Switch Contract* screen, select the **Template Term** you want this partner on.
* To see how long the notice period is for each partner, select **View Partners**.
4. Select the **Contract Dates** and length.
* If you choose a *Temporary* contract length, you will need to set an end date and decide if you want a fallback contract. See the *Fallback Contract reference* for more information.
5. Choose 1 of 2 **Approval Options**.
* **Replace** will bypass partner approval and automatically take effect.
* Select  **\[Checked box]** to allow partners to accept the contract changes immediately.
* **Propose** will require partner approval before taking effect automatically.
* If you *Propose* and your partner declines the new terms, their current contract will remain active.
6. Optionally, add **Comments** if you have any.
7. Select **Submit**.
Replace a partner's contract with a new template term

**Important:** impact.com highly recommends first creating a new set of template terms with the changes you want, then migrating partners onto that new set of terms. This helps avoid errors.

If you don't have a template term to act as a replacement, you can create the new template term during the transition period.
1. From the left navigation menu, select  **\[Engage] →** **Partners → Partners**.
* Alternatively, for a creator program, select  **\[Engage]** → **Partners → Creators**.
2. Hover over the partner whose contract you want to replace, then select **\[More] → Contract → Switch to new contract**.
* Alternatively, select  **\[Checkbox]** next to the partner whose contract you want to replace, then select **Contract → Switch to new contract**.
3. Fill in the necessary fields, using [Create Template Terms](https://help.impact.com/brand/what-would-you-like-to-learn-about/platform-features/contracts-and-template-terms/template-terms/create-template-terms) for guidance.
4. Select **Next**.
5. Select the **Contract Dates** and length.
* If you choose a *Temporary* contract length, you will need to set an end date and decide if you want a fallback contract. See the *Fallback Contract reference* for more information.
6. Choose **Approval Options**.
* **Replace** will bypass partner approval and automatically take effect.
* Select  **\[Checked box]** to allow partners to accept the contract changes immediately.

7. Optionally, add **Comments** if you have any.
8. Select **Submit**.
Move all partners from one template term to another
1. From the left navigation menu, select  **\[Engage]** → **Contracts → Template Terms**.
2. Hover over the template you want to switch, then select  **\[More]** → **Switch Terms for all Partners → Switch to existing contract**.
3. Select a different template term from the  **\[Drop-down menu]**.
4. To see how long the notice period is for each partner, select **View Partners**.
5. Select the contract dates and length of contract.
* If you choose **Temporary** for your contract length, you will need to set the end date and decide if you want a Fallback Contract. See the *Fallback Contract reference* for more information.
6. Choose 1 of 2 **Approval Options**.
* **Replace** will bypass partner approval and automatically take effect.
* Select  **\[Checked box]** to allow partners to accept the contract changes immediately.
* **Propose** will require partner approval before automatically taking effect.
* If you select *Propose* and your partner declines the new terms, their current contract will remain active.
7. Optionally, add **Comments** if you have any.
8. Select **Submit**.
Move all partners on a template term to a new one

**Important:** impact.com highly recommends creating a new set of template terms that will reflect the changes you want to make, then migrating partners onto that new set of terms to help avoid errors.

If you do not have a template term that you want to replace the one your partner is currently on, you can create the new template term during the transition period. 2. Hover over the template term you want to switch, then select  **\[More]** → **Switch Terms for all Partners → Switch to new contract**.
3. Fill out the requested information.
4. Select **Next**.
5. Select the contract dates and contract length.

7. Optionally, add **Comments** if you have any.
8. Select **Submit**.

**Note:** Allow for each planned change to successfully roll out before setting another one. If you catch any errors in your upcoming changes, withdraw the original one before creating a new one.

#### Fallback Contract reference
The *Fallback Contract* is the contract that will govern your partnership after a temporary contract expires.
* You can fallback to the current contract or another template term. If you choose **another Template Term**, you will need to have another template term already set up.
* Not checking the box to enable Fallback Contracts will end the partnership when the end date entered comes.
* You can only have one fallback set up per contract at a time. If you set up a second fallback while the first is active, or before the first fallback begins, you will overwrite the original fallback and this may leave your partner without a contract.
