# Why Does impact.com Require Social Media Permissions from Brands?

When you [connect your brand's social accounts](/brand/what-would-you-like-to-learn-about/account-administration/program-settings/connect-social-accounts/connect-your-social-accounts-as-a-brand.md) to impact.com, you're asked to give permission to Activate Holding LLC (a subsidiary of impact.com) to access your accounts. These permissions let impact.com verify that you manage each account and give you access to the features that require it. This article explains what each permission is for.

impact.com **only asks for permissions that are necessary and will not misuse or access any information without your consent**. We understand that granting access to your brand's social accounts can feel like a big step, and we take your privacy and security very seriously. Employees of impact.com don't have access to any of your connected social accounts.

## Why these permissions matter

The features below rely on permissions from your connected Instagram account. If you decline or later revoke a permission, the features that depend on it may stop working.

## Social media permissions explained

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Instagram" %}
Meta manages Instagram professional accounts through a linked Facebook Page and a Meta business portfolio. That's why some Instagram permissions refer to your Page or your business.

{% hint style="success" %}
**Note:** Amplification also requires specific user permissions in Meta Business Suite. Refer to [Set Up Meta Permissions for Amplification](/brand/what-would-you-like-to-learn-about/creator-program/working-with-creators/amplify-your-creator-ads/set-up-meta-permissions-for-amplification.md) to learn more.

## Manage or revoke access

You stay in control of the access you grant. From the *Connected Accounts* screen, you can disable an account to pause impact.com's use of it, or delete it to remove the account and its authorization from impact.com.

Revoking permissions, or losing admin access to the account, ends the connection. Features that rely on the account, such as Instagram creator discovery and amplification, stop working until you reconnect the account.

Learn how to manage and revoke access to your social media accounts in the [Manage Your Connected Social Accounts as a Brand](/brand/what-would-you-like-to-learn-about/account-administration/program-settings/connect-social-accounts/manage-your-connected-social-accounts-as-a-brand.md) help article.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.impact.com/brand/what-would-you-like-to-learn-about/account-administration/program-settings/connect-social-accounts/why-does-impact.com-require-social-media-permissions-from-brands.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
